Hall Stall Fault

Introduction

The Hall stall feature will trigger a fault condition if the controller is seeing > 20% of Rated motor current being output but with no change in motor position being detected.

Note

The Hall Stall Fault feature only works for Motor position sensor type 0 (Hall based) and 1 (Hall start and sensorless run).

Setting Hall stall fault time to 0 will disable this feature. When the Hall stall fault time is non-zero, the feature will wait for a state change at Digital Inputs bit 0 (Hall A), Digital Inputs bit 1 (Hall B), and/or Digital Inputs bit 2 (Hall C) for the time written to the parameter before setting Warnings bit 2 Hall stall. If Motor features bit 1 Fault tolerant hall is not enabled, it also triggers the Motor Hall sensor fault (Faults bit 5) and the Hall stall fault (Faults2 bit 6).

Configuration

  1. Set Hall stall fault time to a non-zero value (in milliseconds).

    Warning

Setting the Hall stall fault time too low could result in false faults during transient periods of enabling throttle.

To keep the Hall stall warning without the faults, enable Motor features bit 1 Fault tolerant hall.
