Rated Limits

Introduction

BAC Controllers monitor system voltage, limit over current draw and limit regenerative current. In order to do so and protect your system, the following configuration guide must be followed.

Configuration

Under the Peripheral Selection/Battery tab, you should be able to configure the following parameters:

  1. Enter the battery's rated voltage in the Rated System Voltage parameter. This should not be the measured voltage at 100% SOC but the rated voltage of the battery itself.
  2. Enter the maximum battery current limit as a % of rated motor current.
  3. Enter the regeneration battery current limit as a % of rated motor current.

Note

If a controller's Regeneration battery current limit parameter is set to 0%. Even a slight rollback of a direct drive vehicle will not allow forward motion until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. To avoid this type of behaviour set this parameter to at least 20%.
